Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, popularly identified as GRV, was born on 8 March 1983. GRV is a Nigerian activist and a politician. He holds a Bc in Architecture. MSc in Master of Research and Public Policy. He schooled at Lagos State University, the University of Nottingham and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
GRV is surrounded by family.
His wife, Dr Ifeyinwa Aniebo, parents, great-great-great-grandfather, great-grandfather, grandfather, uncle, and father-in-law.
GRV is passionate about Nigeria. He wants to make a positive change in the political sector, as well as other sectors of the country, starting with Lagos State where he is running for a gubernatorial position under the Labour Party.
In 2019, he was the senatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) for the Lagos West senatorial district.
Rhodes-Vivour is the convener of the civil society group, Nigerians Against GMO, an Anti-GMO advocacy group fighting against the proliferation of Genetically Modified Foods in Nigeria. Their protest increased in 2016, following claims by Monsanto that GMOs are safe, tackling the Nigerian Minister of Agriculture, Akinwumi Adesina, as well as the multinational company.
In 2017, he alongside Nnimmo Bassey led a 2,000-man march to the Senate to lend a voice in the fight against environmental degradation. He also campaigns for the inclusion of history as a subject in the Nigerian school curriculum.
In 2022, Rhodes-Vivour collaborated with WellaHealth to provide free health checks and insurance for 1 million people in Lagos who have their Voter’s card, in commemoration of World Malaria Day and to encourage people to get their Voter’s card to enable them to vote in upcoming elections. He is a man of the people.
